True Love Books Being Valid Literary Contributions

By Della Monroe

It may be easy for literary critics to dismiss romance novels as junk. They believe that the stories are poorly written and that most of the content is very shallow. However, people who write this literary genre tend to be very careful about what ideas they include in their true love books. They want their works to be appreciated as valid and interesting books and not disregarded by people who have never before read this style of writing. As such, most authors include several different themes in their stories to ensure dimension and intrigue with their readers.

It is true that these novels do feature an underlying romantic tone. If they did not, they could not be labeled as belonging to this genre. Most stories feature star-crossed lovers looking to build trust and gain a romantic partner in life. Sometimes the stories feature one half of the couple pursuing the other while other works tell the story of two people who seemingly are mismatched coming together to create the perfect union.

However, more than the underlying romance, the novels touch on other themes that make the story as compelling as possible to readers. For example, those works that are set in medieval times might focus on a theme of women gaining equality with men and being treated as worthy of respect and notice. The heroine might match wits with her male counterpart throughout the book.

Similarly, other creators set their tales in the Wild West days and give their works validity by including historic details about people who actually existed in that time and location. This historic accuracy hooks readers into the story and also makes the novel more believable. It likewise takes away in a meaningful fashion the central tone of romance and sexual chemistry between the two main characters.

Even with the underlying themes in the novels, critics who have yet to read and appreciate the creations may say that the works are overall forgettable and not worthy to be read by a broader audience. They fail to appreciate that the inclusion of the themes and historical references in their own way give validity to these creations. They also provide the level of intrigue that readers expect when reading for pleasure.

Likewise, they want the story to be appreciated as a legitimate work of literature rather than a tale to be dismissed as fanciful. Just like other genres of literature, romantic tales have their place in the literary world. The inclusion of more than one theme in addition to the underlying love match helps give the book more credence in the opinions of literary critics.

As such, it may come as no surprise to writers that their fan bases are growing and now include an eclectic mix of readers. Along with housewives and stay-at-home moms who have always been the traditional fan base, readers now include college professors and working professionals. College students are also known to read these books.

A novel written about true love may seem shallow to many who have never before read these works. People may be surprised to learn that complex theme work can be found inside each novel. The craftiness of the books helps give them legitimacy and credence in the eyes of literary critics and audiences who come to appreciate them better.
