Knowing How To Build A Close Relationship With God

By Francis Riggs

Having a better relationship with the creator is a good goal and shows that you have been reborn, because only those closer to Christ desire to be closer to God. You must also admit that as you live, you will never be closer to God like you desire. The blocking aspect is the sins we commit in this life. God does not lack anything on this. It becomes a deficiency on your part. The sins that people commit continue to be barriers to them knowing how to build a close relationship with God. They realize this when it is too late.

The first step to take towards achieving this is making confession a daily habit. He has promised to forgive us once we confess the sins we have committed. It is forgiveness which reinstates any relationship that is or has been on the rocks.

People should know that confession is not just words written. It should come from the deepest part of your heart after realizing that fin is the worst offense to the Holy Spirit. It is repentance for someone who realizes that Jesus died to save human.

People have closer moments to Almighty when they listen to Him. Many are still waiting for a supernatural experience of an encounter in God, but Peter says that the Bible is the surest way of listening to God. So people should read it regularly to know what he is speaking.

Speaking to Almighty through prayers will also bring you close to him. God speaks to us through the Bible and people speak to him through prayers. It is not only for asking God to fulfill our needs. The psalms in bible are prayers to Almighty, which can revive our association through Him. We witness adoration, contrition, supplication and thanksgiving from the psalms.

A congregation worshiping God is good for you. When you regularly worship with others, you will have spiritual growth. Attending the church on regular basis does not only bring you back to God, but also gives you a chance to worship with other members of the church. Worshiping as a group helps us build a closer connection to the creator.

A life of obedience makes you a closer child of God. The bible displays rewards to people who obeyed, to show us that those who obey shall receive the grace of the lord and his salvation as well. Salvation comes from repentance and living according to the will of God. Obedience shows that we are grateful to Creator for his mercies.

These undertakings seem really simple, simplistic even. But just like we how we go about on developing close relationships through our fellow human beings by conversing with them regularly, pouring our hearts to them, listening to them, sacrificing our needs to satisfy their and seeking forgiveness when we do wrong, this is the same things to be invested and done to get close to our Lord.
